My Review: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟/5

Paul Sheldon, a writer famous for creating Misery Chastain, the heroine of famous Victorian era romance novel has just killed off his actress in the latest Misery book and was travelling after completing another brand new novel when he got into a car crash. When he woke up he found himself lying on a bed with broken legs but not in a hospital. He was in the house of Annie Wilkes who is supposedly his number one fan. Annie was attending to Paul and giving him some sort of drug to relieve his pain which was eventually leading him to addiction. She is a huge fan of misery novels and has started reading the latest book recently. She finishes the book while Paul is in her house and gets devastated with Misery’s death. She burns his new novel’s only manuscript which she found in his bag and does sickening things to punish him for killing Misery .That’s when Paul realizes he is at the mercy of a mad woman who can go to any level. She threatens Paul to write Misery’s return then only she will free him. But Paul knows no matter what he does she won’t let him go.
The book is brilliantly written with lots of twists and turns. Though the story is not fast paced but the suspense the author has built is commendable. What crazy Annie will do next keeps you hooked till the end. Sometimes it may feel monotonous but keep reading and you are in for a treat. The mental instability and obsessive nature has been wonderfully put out. It seems as if you are in the room with Paul Sheldon fearing Annie’s next way of torturing. Some of the scenes are so pathetic and inhuman that it leaves you feeling disturbed. Paul Sheldon constantly tries to please Annie writing and rewriting the scenes according to her taste but what Annie doesn’t know that he is also planning her death. He is not going to spare the woman who has made his life miserable. The ending is splendid and so well written which makes your heart happy. If you like psychological thrillers then you should definitely read this book. No doubt it has become one of the best book I have ever read.
