My Review : 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟/5
It is a short story about a fern and his experience with humans. The fern used to believe it is ugly compared to other houseplants and nobody would ever buy it. But the story changed when Brenda fell in love with it at first sight in the store. She brought the fern home and named it George. At first George resisted growth and curled its leaves in rebellion but with the eventual love and care of Brenda it became attached to her and gave up its resentful feelings. It enjoyed the presence of Brenda. But the happiness was short-lived. A sudden turn of events disrupted the household and stole away happiness from George’s life. To find out what happened with George and Brenda pick up the book.
The story is beautifully written and packed with emotions. You will find yourself smiling and crying at the same time. I never thought the story of a houseplant would make me shed tears. We get to learn so many lessons from the story regarding life. It was perfectly weaved with small twists which keeps you engaged throughout. It is a short read and can be finished within half an hour. I want everybody to read this story once. The author has beautifully brought out the life journey of a houseplant and portrayed its human attachments. If you are looking for a short story to read I highly recommend checking out this book. You won’t regret!
