Pride and Prejudice

She was convinced that she could have been happy with him, when it was no longer likely they should meet.”

#blurb: Few have failed to be charmed by the witty and independent spirit of Elizabeth Bennet in Austen’s beloved classic Pride and Prejudice. When Elizabeth Bennet first meets eligible bachelor Fitzwilliam Darcy, she thinks him arrogant and conceited; he is indifferent to her good looks and lively mind. When she later discovers that Darcy has involved himself in the troubled relationship between his friend Bingley and her beloved sister Jane, she is determined to dislike him more than ever. In the sparkling comedy of manners that follows, Jane Austen shows us the folly of judging by first impressions and superbly evokes the friendships, gossip and snobberies of provincial middle-class life.

My review: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

The book revolves around the lives of Elizabeth Bennet and Mr.Darcy. At the beginning they are not very fond of each other, Elizabeth seems to be hypercritical and prejudiced towards Mr.Darcy while he is also quite mean and full of pride. But as we move forward in the story we find out that in reality Mr.Darcy is a very caring and generous person with a kind and beautiful heart and thus both of them could not help but fall for each other..The book also showcases the love story of Elizabeth’s sister Jane and Mr.Bingley.

Both Elizabeth and Jane are of marriageable age and their mother is always after them to get settled with rich husbands.Elizabeth is her father’s favourite while her mother does not like her much as she likes living her life on her own terms..Set up in the 19th century the book also gives us a view of the life style and the mindset of the society during that period..

Overall it is a pleasant read with an intriguing plot. The characters are charming but the writing style is little hard for a beginner..sometimes you will need to read a line twice to understand exactly what is happening but all this can be ignored in view of the masterpiece Austen created..Elizabeth is one of the most admirable heroines of Jane Austen..She is a mature and good natured girl while being outspoken and graceful at the same time. You can’t help but love her!. It is one of my favourite classics and I would like all my followers to give this book a read.
